When is a dog considered a senior?

The American Kennel Club says the answer depends on size (AKC).

• Giant breeds like the Mastiff are considered seniors by 6 or 7 years old.
• Toy breeds like the Yorkshire Terrier enter their senior years at 10 to 12.

Big dogs reach their senior years sooner, which is one more reason to treasure every walk. Ask your vet about diet, exercise and comfort as your dog ages.

How to use quotes about senior dogs
